Bad Dream
By CartoonLover27

Turanga Leela's gaze narrowed in boredom out of the front windshield. To most, seeing the celestial body would be astounding, but to her, it was just another delivery, just another day on the job.

"Bender is great! Bender is great! Bender, Bender, Bender is great!" Leela rolled her eye in severe annoyance, listening to the alcoholic robot sing on.

"Would you keep it down?"

"Not a chance, tight pants!" Bender quipped, continuing his tune. She sighed and smushed a hand against her cheek, narrowing her eye further with each verse. She suddenly remembered a job she had for the dim-witted redhead.

"Fry, when we get back I want you to help me clean out the-," She was cut short by the reflection in the glass, which showed that the delivery boy's eyes were closed in exhaustion. She set the ship on autopilot and went to wake him. She shook him lightly by the shoulder.

"Fry, wake up." No response was shown and she shook him harder.

"Fry!" She realized her moves were futile and that she might as well have been trying to make a sleep-bot wake up. She sat back in her chair, pondering what to do with him. She was ready to tilt the chair over, forcing him to come down with it, until she heard him mutter in his sleep.

"Leela." He mumbled. It was almost inaudible, but Leela had heard it. She turned her head and glanced at him. He seemed like he was having a bad dream; his brow was narrowed in concern, and she could hear him making slight whimpers.

God Fry, she thought. She was certainly afraid of losing him. In fact, since her coma, she had a near-phobia of anything bad happening to him. And she obviously knew how much he cared for her. He had proved it by nearly sacrificing his life for hers multiple times, but in her wildest dreams she wouldn't have thought he'd have nightmares about her. Fry's dreamed subsided and he slept more contentedly.

Does he really love me that much?

"What's eating ya, eyeball?" Bender asked in between drags on his cigar. Leela's walls instantly came up.

"Nothing. I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh, c'mon. I can read humanoid emotions like a book, big boots. Is you're hard drive overheating or is your processor full?" Leela avoided the question, not only for the complete inaccuracy of Bender's attempt to understand feelings, but because she was confused herself, in a rare moment, and decided it would be to complicated trying to explain it to him. Amy walked in, her soft hair bouncing slightly as she sat beside the cyclops.

"Are you stopping for more dark matter soon?"

"Are we low?"

"Spluh. I told you sixty-seven fast food places ago. "

Leela nodded understandably. " So, thirty minutes ago?"

"Yeah." She noticed a sign marking a fuel station and grinned slightly.

"Hey Amy, why don't you fuel up for me? You and Bender go together. I'll give you money for beer."

"Hell yeah!" Bender started forward in excitement, reaching to grab the money from her.

"But first, can you find a way to wake him up for me?"

"Of course, I gotta do it. Let's make Bender do everything around here." He grumbled, but poked Fry's cheek with the butt of his cigar. He woke with a start.

"Yow!" He exclaimed.

"There. Give me the money. I'll be back Wednesday." He walked joyfully out of the building, with Amy strolling just behind. Fry looked at her and frowned.

"Listen, I know I fell asleep again, but I'm sorry and I'll make it-"

"It's fine Fry."

"-Up to you. Wait- what?" He stopped talking and sported a confused expression. She smiled lightly.

"I'm not mad. Just don't let it happen again." She said faux- threateningly.

"It won't." He flashed her a lop-sided grin.

"How'd you sleep?"

He sipped his can of Slurm he had sitting beside him and shrugged.

"Alright. I can't remember it that well, but I think I had a bad dream."

"Maybe this will make it better." The purple-haired woman planted a passionate kiss on his cheek. Ironically, it was on the same spot Bender had burned him. Fry's mouth hung slightly open in surprise.

"Much better."
